EVENT PLANNER- RIA WHITEHILL
Gary Gayda introduced to us Ria Whitehill, a former work associate of his who is planning a career change into Event Planning. Ria is going to help with the planning for the Cardinal Wright Awards Dinner to help gain work experience and build her resume. Welcome aboard Ria!
CARDINAL WRIGHT AWARDS
The committee made several major decisions last night, starting off with the date for the event this year: Sunday, August 23rd. We are in the process of exploring all of our options, but we are excited that this year's event could potentially be our best ever.
The committee reviewed the nominees for the awards and after much discussion selected this year's candidates. We are withholding announcing their names until we contact them and determine their availability to attend. We are very excited about this year's class of awardees. There will be three Cardinal Wright Awards, one Fr. Joe Henry recipient and one new as yet unnamed surprise category that was created just last night.
We are hopeful that we will be able to maintain the same cost as last year and at this juncture it's more than likely that we will have a new venue as the room last year at Monterrey Bay was simply not large enough for us to expand our attendance.
All alumni are urged to reserve this date now and to please make as many reservations as possible so that we can have our largest crowd ever.
By next month we should have all of the final details ironed out so that you can then begin making your reservations. As of this writing, we are expecting Cardinal DiNardo to be in attendance and hopefully Bishop Zubick as well.
In other news, the committee approved a motion that was made by Angelo Spagnolo and seconded by Father Dave Schorr that the alumni association sponsor the seminarians and the high school affiliates for their meals at the Cardinal Wright awards dinner, since it was felt that this would be a great way for the seminarians to get a chance to meet us and vice versa. We would like to have as many tables as possible have a seminarian seated with attendees. There are currently 21 seminarians. Tony is going to find out if they will be available to us on that date. The motion passed unanimously.
